Buddy was donated by Okapilco Plantation.

Once upon a time, Buddy worked on a plantation as a guest horse up until 2015, when he joined HHH. Buddy loved working with our therapy program and was so patient and reliable. Unfortunately, Buddy injured his leg this summer so he was no longer able to work in our program. However, he is now retired (2020) and living life to his fullest with our other retired therapy horse, Luke. Buddy is still loved deeply and given lots of cuddles.

Chancy was a very admired horse in the show world competing in three-day eventer, dressage, cross country and stadium jumping! He even had a fancy show name, Clear Mandate! After his busy show life, Chancy joined HHH in 2016 and has been an amazing therapy horse ever since. He enjoys grazing in the pasture with his buddies, and is a big cuddler when someone comes to see him!

Cookie is the resident meeter-greeter at Hands & Hearts. She came to HHH in 2013 with her “sister” Stella as a lease from the Williams Family. When Stella passed in 2022, Cookie took on the mantel of our smallest equine ambassador. Cookie is the perfect first pony for many of our youngest participants who like a little more movement and she excels at teaching younger participants to learn to lead horses.

Dakota came to us in August of 2023 from south Florida where he had a job working with veterans in a therapy program. He was having a hard time with the south Florida summers so his mom decided to move him further north. Ivan is the third of the our fjords that were lovingly donated to our program by Kim Nord of North Carolina. Ivan is the “heavy lifter” in our program, his stocky build and smooth gaits make him the perfect all around horse to help everyone from itty-bitty riders to our more involved clients. Ivan also has a background in dressage, so he’s been known to strut his stuff in the ring from time to time with Ms. Jan!

Jagger joined the Hands & Hearts crew in 2017 needing a break from barrel racing. After realizing that he loved his new life being a lead line horse taking care of our riders, his mom, Ashlei, decided to donate him to our program! Jagger is quite a looker and is a barn favorite because of his sweet disposition and big movements. His mom tells us that he was originally from Oklahoma!

At only 5-years-old in 2000, Luke was one of our very first therapy horses at HHH. After many years of dedicated service, Luke was retired in 2016 and happily grazes in the pasture with his buddies to this day.
