Buddy was donated by Okapilco Plantation.
Once upon a time, Buddy worked on a plantation as a guest horse up until 2015, when he joined HHH. Buddy loved working with our therapy program and was so patient and reliable. Unfortunately, Buddy injured his leg this summer so he was no longer able to work in our program. However, he is now retired (2020) and living life to his fullest with our other retired therapy horse, Luke. Buddy is still loved deeply and given lots of cuddles.

Chancy was a very admired horse in the show world competing in three-day eventer, dressage, cross country and stadium jumping! He even had a fancy show name, Clear Mandate! After his busy show life, Chancy joined HHH in 2016 and has been an amazing therapy horse ever since. He enjoys grazing in the pasture with his buddies, and is a big cuddler when someone comes to see him!

Cookie is on loan from the Williams Family
Cookie is the resident meeter-greeter at Hands & Hearts. She came to HHH in 2013 with her “sister” Stella as a lease from the Williams Family. When Stella passed in 2022, Cookie took on the mantel of our smallest equine ambassador. Cookie is the perfect first pony for many of our youngest participants who like a little more movement and she excels at teaching younger participants to learn to lead horses.

Dakota is graciously leased to HHH by Lesley Mastalerz.
Dakota came to us in August of 2023 from south Florida where he had a job working with veterans in a therapy program. He was having a hard time with the south Florida summers so his mom decided to move him further north. Dakota is flashy and fun with big movement with a very sweet personality and loves everyone he meets.

Ivan was donated by Kim Nord.
Ivan is the third of the our fjords that were lovingly donated to our program by Kim Nord of North Carolina. Ivan is the “heavy lifter” in our program, his stocky build and smooth gaits make him the perfect all around horse to help everyone from itty-bitty riders to our more involved clients. Ivan also has a background in dressage, so he’s been known to strut his stuff in the ring from time to time with Ms. Jan!

Jack comes to us from a long career as a hunter jumper. After coming back from an injury, he decided that he liked the slower pace of our therapy barn. Jagger was donated by AshLei Carter.
Jagger joined the Hands & Hearts crew in 2017 needing a break from barrel racing. After realizing that he loved his new life being a lead line horse taking care of our riders, his mom, Ashlei, decided to donate him to our program! Jagger is quite a looker and is a barn favorite because of his sweet disposition and big movements. His mom tells us that he was originally from Oklahoma!

Kit or Kit Kat, as he’s affectionately known, is an old soul who has already won the hearts of many of the staff and clients at HHH. Kit comes from a background of western events and has “been there, done that.” He’s unflappable nature and easy way of going makes him a favorite of our less confident riders and he’s become the horse that many of our clients start riding independently on.

At only 5-years-old in 2000, Luke was one of our very first therapy horses at HHH. After many years of dedicated service, Luke was retired in 2016 and happily grazes in the pasture with his buddies to this day. He is lightly used in lessons once a week, just for our more involved clients who need a great partner who has endless patience. We were blessed to have Luke in our program. He is owned by Nancy & Martha, Terrell & Nan’s daughters.

Miss Jenny is owned by the Hanna family and came to HHH in 2003. She isn’t used in therapy lessons but she is great at keeping her friend, Cookie, company. She also loves for anyone to spend some time grooming her! Most days, you will find her cuddled in the dirt just basking in the sun.

Mongo is the newest addition to our HHH herd, helping to take some of the load off of Ivan. Mongo is very patient with our riders and any ”thing” we toss at him! Mongo also works as a driving horse during certain seasons with his owner, Ben Lotz. In June of 2020, Ben chose to share Mongo with HHH. THANKS BEN! He is loved by all and is the biggest teddy bear!

Ringo is one of the newest barn favorites and is such a handsome boy! He used to be an overnight camping horse before he was purchased by Tawyna & Lilly. He was used as a western riding AND had just learned to jump when he came to us. Ringo is a perfect size and has a little more giddy-up and go for our clients who have a need for speed!

Teena already had therapeutic riding on her resume when she came to us, so she has fit right in! Teena has also enjoyed trail riding in the past, and just being an all around pleasure horse. She has a short, stocky build, which is perfect for riders who need more physical support. She loves to be around people, and is very willing. With her smooth and easy gaits, she is a great horse to teach beginner riders the ropes, or help advanced riders practice more difficult skills!
