Payten is our volunteer spotlight of the month for June and July!

Payten has been volunteering with us for over a year! She is a regular volunteer on Saturdays and for our summer camps! She has also participated as a camper in our summer camps for the last two summers! She is always willing to learn new things and has attended our Advanced Volunteer Training with Mrs. Jan White. She is skilled at leading all of our horses and is always willing to leap in wherever she is needed! We love having her as part of our Hands and Hearts for Horses family!

  • What motivated you to volunteer at Hands and Hearts for Horses?

    • I was motivated to start working at Hands and Hearts for Horses for multiple reasons. I enjoy working with all of the kids and seeing them smile and laugh! I love helping care for the animals and generally just helping out around the place!

  • Do you have a Hands and Hearts for Horses moment you can share? (Funny, heartwarming, meaningful, memorable, favorite, etc)

    •  One of my favorite parts of the day is helping in Kelsey’s lesson! She always brings a smile to my face.

  • What's one piece of advice you would give a new volunteer?

    • One piece of advice I would give to a new volunteer is to get to know the people around you, and ALWAYS be the biggest help possible!

  • How long have you been volunteering with Hands and Hearts for Horses?

    • I have been at Hands and Hearts for over a year!

  • Who is your favorite horse at Hands and Hearts for Horses and why?

    • My favorite horse is Mongo (Goose). He is my favorite because I’ve done lots with him (lead, rode, worked with). Also, I love his personality! One minute he can be sweet, then the next grumpy, just like me! Every morning before lessons start I go to him and give him a good morning pet.
