February 2025 Volunteer Spotlight!
Jeanette Nelson
We have certainly felt the love this Valentines month with many new volunteers joining our crew as well as some new volunteers coming regularly which we LOVE!
Jeanette started volunteering with us at the start of Spring Session 2025! Luckily for us, she enjoyed her volunteering experience and now helps with 2 school groups on Wednesdays back-to-back and now comes out every Friday to help with one of our lessons that was previously always short on help! She is a great example of how one person can make a big difference!
Jeanette Training with Jimmy
Jeanette can be seen here working with horse Jimmy at Ms. Jan’s advanced volunteer training last Saturday!
Our riders love her, and she interacts wonderfully with them as a side walker! She has also stepped in as a horse leader and is making great progress on her horse leading skills! She even attended our advanced volunteer training on February 15th as she is eager to gain more horse knowledge! Jeanette has already been spreading the word of Hands and Hearts for Horses to those she knows which is amazing! We are so happy to have her as part of our Hands and Hearts for Horses family!
Check out our spotlight interview with Jeanette below!
Riders LOVE Jeanette!
One of our riders showing Jeanette some love!
1. What motivated you to volunteer at Hands and Hearts for Horses?
I was looking for an opportunity to help others and I love all animals. HHH associates and other volunteers were very welcoming and made me feel needed from the first day. Exactly what I was looking for!
2. Do you have a Hands and Hearts for Horses moment you can share? (Funny, heartwarming, meaningful, memorable, favorite, etc.)
Working with the children and seeing how happy they are on the horses is the most heartwarming experience I can think of.
3. Who is your favorite horse at Hands and Hearts for Horses and why?
Jack - because he's lively and fun to work with.
4. What's one piece of advice you would give a new volunteer?
Give it a chance. You may volunteer because you love horses but it's much more than that. After helping the children, you'll walk away smiling.
5. How long have you been volunteering with Hands and Hearts for Horses?
Since January 8th , I believe.
